Measure the place you use it
The useful starting point is the floor space and the activity you already do. Mark the selected mat dimensions in your room, then consider the space around it. A mat that fits neatly when rolled may still be inconvenient when laid out. If you carry it to class, account for the whole journey rather than choosing only by the appearance of the surface.
Read care as part of ownership
Manduka advises wiping the mat and letting it dry before rolling, with specific cleaning restrictions. Those instructions are part of the ownership cost in time. If you want a mat that can be treated like a washable household rug, this is a different purchase. Keep the care instructions accessible and avoid experimenting with a cleaner simply because it is already in the cupboard.
Compare feel without pretending to measure it
We have not measured grip or cushioning on this mat. A thinner specification can be attractive for a streamlined setup, but it cannot predict your experience on the floor.
